Last weekend we went to one of my favorite places on the planet, Lake Martin.

Just chillin' watching geese, hummingbirds, and boats.  It was a goooood day.

My dad built our cabin with my grandfather when he was just a teenager. My grandparents even lived there full time at one point. The cabin has gone through many "looks" over the decades, and has received some much needed facelifts, but it remains roughly the same.

My memories here are some of the happiest of my life, and I feel so lucky that I can share with Hudson the joy, fun, and love our cabin brings.  Lake life is the good life. No fuss, no glitz.  Wet swim-suit bottom? No problem.  A spider or two on the bed? Maybe. Naps after breakfast? Didn't know there was another option. The most food you've ever eaten?? You can bet on that!

For me, one of the best things is that I still feel like my parents' child when I'm there. I'm instantly transported back to my childhood. I feel carefree and loved - greatest feeling in the world.

It's really a magical place.

Huddy with grits and scrambled egg still fresh on his chompers!

We took a boat ride to Goat Island. It was a blast!

 {For those of you not from around these parts, you pull in a boat to an island on the lake where the only inhabitants are goats.  They have a shelter and it's obvious they are being looked after by goat loving neighbors.}

H loves animals as much as his momma.

He stuck close to his uncle and granddaddy, just in case a goat got squirrely. Smart boy.

We fed them homemade boiled peanuts.  Lucky goats.

Happy birthday mom, dad, and uncle E! We love you!

In other news:

I'm hosting a baby shower for one of my dear friends this weekend. I am excited to celebrate baby V., and thrilled that W+I are adding another baby boy in the mix! I love this stage of my life where my friends are all starting their families. Our running the town (in our minds), college glory days don't seem to be that distant of a memory. What a blessing it is to be able to stay close (in proximity and relationship) to my college girlfriends, and watch our families grow. I love that the same girls that were my wing-women at the bar  will now be my wing-mommies on the play ground.  I am 10000% aware of how rare it is to have fiercely loyal, judgement free friendship. They'll probably give me a hard time that I am getting cheesy in my old age - losing my edge.  I'm just gaining perspective, and I like what I see.

Thought for the weekend

Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend!
