Selecting THE right pumpkin, or, in my case, THE right 10 pumpkins, is a very personal, highly analyzed decision. I pace row after row of hopeful, orange orbs and after much (husband irritating) deliberation, I stand back and point at my subjects one by one as said irritated husband loads the chosen ones up. I give the group a final once over just to make sure they look good together.
This year I have a good group, but not as many as I would like and I'm still missing my one jumbo, giant. Stems are a must. A pumpkin without a stem is like a unicorn without a horn. Useless. Time will tell if they will actually get carved or decorated this year.
If you follow my IG account, foxdenblog, you'll know about my obsession with these Mara and Mine slippers. They're incredibly comfortable. Plus, people feel bad for you that your feet are dead, but simultaneously are consumed with jealousy that your bones are gold. gold bones = uber chic
Your phalanges are showing. Get it? Scandalous.
How cute are these Boco Baby leggings??!! A friend shared this brand with me and I adore them! There are several pattern options, customizable fonts, and colors for leggings and t-shirts. Definitely worth checking out!
This seems like a lifetime ago.
But, at the same time, I can't quite grasp how quickly he is developing. It seems that in the last month he is just spewing out all the things he's been soaking up like a sponge in his first 2 years of life. He made me cry this past Sunday when his sweet little voice calls out to me as I was pulling out of the driveway "be carewwlful, momma!" Then, last night, I was stopped at a stop sign at the end of our street trying to figure out the radio in a car I'm not use to driving, when I hear Huddy say, "here comes a car." Me: "umm, yeah, baby." H: "Here comes two cars and a big red truck." Wait... are we having a conversation? Did you just say full sentences, identify colors, recognize your surroundings, AND count?!!!!!!?? All at once?? What a true blessing it is to be able to watch this tiny little person grow and LEARN. I'm constantly amazed.
Speaking of amazing, I got these night lights that project halloween scenes on the wall or ceiling. spooky. Target.
This is not a photoshop trick. The world's tiniest turtle that my parents found in their pool. I had no idea they were born that small!
Calling cards my friend K made for Mr. Hudson.
Grandmother always loved pumpkins. I keep her by them this time of year.
The LoveFeast Shop is my source for the best velvet pumpkins. Beautiful colors with real, uniquely shaped stems. Remember how I feel about stems! I love the white velvet ones. Velvet acorns are next on my list.
What I've been wearing-
My version of mom sweats. Leopard sweatshirt is by Zoe Karssen.
I purchased it last year, but I found this one by Current/Elliot on Shopbop
Or, this Wolf Sweatshirt by A Fine Line
Leopard print enthusiasts, I love this blue coat and leopard blouse combo. Coat is a great price at $186.
Mr. Hudson still screams when I rinse out his shampoo, but he has no problem blasting his face with freezing hose water.
This baby has some kind of impressive ribcage. You'd never guess he was in the 90th percentile for weight. 97th percentile for height. This combo makes his favorite game of jump on mommy feel more like abuse than toddler play. He will probably be taller than his momma by the time he starts kindergarten. It's so awkward to stand eye to eye with elementary age kids. Short girl probs.
If you've got an extra $700 to spend on a super cute cardigan, this is my pick. You're in luck though bc Calypso is having offering 25% with the code FRIENDS14. MAN, I LOVE A DEAL. DON'T YOU?
If you're going to splurge at Calypso, I highly recommend their cashmere ponchos. The quality is excellent and the style is timeless. They will last you season after season.
While we were traveling in Virgin Gorda, we had limited WiFi access. I really didn't miss it all that much, except late at night, when my brain magically starts to go into over drive. I didn't realize how much I relied on my phone to help me through insomnia. It reminded me of this card my mom gave John.
Every night I had the same conversation with myself. I wonder what (insert anyone) is up to? NO. I wonder what (insert tropical illness, tropical storm, etc)? NOPE. Hey, you think (insert anything)? Let me look that, oh way, NO, NOPE, NOT GONNA KNOW. dammit.
Oscar has always been a good sport about costumes. He really loves capes.
I love my kitchen.
Mr. Hudson decided to brew some tea. He likes his tea infused with rubber, and 100 grande bars.
In blogger news,
It's Breast Cancer Awareness month, as you all know. Cathy Williamson is a breast cancer survivor and also happens to be the author of one of my favorite style blogs, The Middle Page. I originally discovered her through Instagram (THEMIDDLEPAGEBLOG) and I was so moved by her story, her courage, and her ageless, timeless style. My favorite series on her blog is "Chic at Every Age" where she and three other bloggers show how their "decade" could wear a certain trend. I love this. Helps disprove the old thought that certain trends should only be worn by certain age women. Style is ageless! Cathy is passionate about spreading awareness of the type of cancer, Triple Negative Breast Cancer, she was diagnosed with and her latest Chic At Every Age post is showing her line of rainwear, which 25% of the proceeds from purchasing will go to the TNBC Foundation. Check it out.
In celebrity news, how incredible does Blake Lively look??! There is just wayyy too much beauty going on in that photo for me to ever like her again. #jealous
Reese Witherspoon has been killing it lately. I love her style. Glamour that is relatable.
Go do something awesome!
